It’s one thing to value the essence of freedom—it’s another thing to be a complete dumbass. All this guy’s doing is trying to make a statement, but I don’t think he fully understands what he’s doing. Hell, I don’t think I fully understand what exactly he is doing. Sure, this sends a powerful message, but so what? In what way will riding your skateboard straight towards incoming cars, all of which can easily run you the fuck over, benefit you and your life?
On a deeper level, is it okay to flaunt your sense of freedom at the expense of everyone around you? Is it okay to deny others the right (if you even wanna call it that) to get to where they need to go, on time, with minimal stress, by clogging up the freeway?
Do you realize that, maybe, just maybe, you’re oppressing others with your “freedom?”
Maybe you’re saying “fuck the system,” but I feel like you’re “fucking” with the wrong people. They aren’t the system, rather, they are merely submissive to it.
Regardless, the reason why I decided to make a post on this picture was to illustrate a lesson in life that many of us (including myself) fail to abide by through action: be mindful of yourself before asserting judgment or authority over others. It is the root of ignorance, and of all hypocrisy. That sense of self-righteousness you have inside you? Get rid of it. That shit’s poison to the heart, yo.
Then again, there’s a chance this picture might be photoshopped, and/or there may be no real [metaphorical] significance to this photo whatsoever.
And also, every time I’m stuck in traffic on the freeway I’ll think to myself “There’s some fucker skateboarding against the flow up ahead isn’t there”.
I’m just kidding, kind of…
